Getting a new snare drum to experiment with always excites me.
What’s exciting about this process is that I don’t know what to expect when I tune this new drum a certain way.
Will it sound good at a lower tuning?
Will the tension rods back out quickly or stay in tune while I play it?
What type of bearing edges are on the drum?
How will the drum sound be affected by a different drum head and dampening?
I consider these questions to ensure all bases with this new snare drum are covered.
It allows me to be confident that I have run through every possible question needed to understand this new piece of art.
Let’s hear from you! Do you have a process when you get a snare drum? Do you push the limits to see what it can do? Comment, and let’s talk about it!
Love you, guys! Stay Safe! Okay. Byeeeee.
