Tech Tip Tuesday: No Snare Bottom VS. Snare Bottom. What’s the difference?
.
.
.
We have been discussing a lot about microphone placement and how just having microphones changes your perspective of your entire setup.
Adding a snare bottom microphone is one of those moves that changes how you hear your snare drum forever.
As you can hear in the first example, the snare sound has a nice balance of articulation and power. You can feel the presence when the stick smacks the rim and the head. It is a very balanced and usable snare sound!
Although something is missing, and the funny thing is you don’t notice it until it first comes into the mix. Adding that snare bottom microphone enhances what is already there. The snare bottom microphone delivers a presence of crispiness, snappiness, and sizzle that you didn’t get with the first clip.
These factors add a new layer by delivering a sound with sizzle, body, and fullness. Same playing, the same snare, just an added layer to the sound!
Sometimes the littlest things can make the most drastic difference in a drum mix.
What do you guys think? Have you ever used a snare bottom mic before? If so, did you hear how it affected the sound of your snare drum? Leave a comment. Let's talk about it! ????????❤️????????
Stay creative, and have a great rest of the week. Love you guys!! Okay. Byeeeee. ????????????????❤️????????
