Over a year ago, I said that this snare drum's sweet spot was a mid-high tuning.

As much as it sounded good in that tuning, it was not its only sweet spot. The super high tuning is where this snare drum truly sings.

This is a snare drum that I enjoy keeping at high tension. Meaning, that the snare side head and the batter side head are tight.

Along with the tuning, the shell and the bearing edge play a role in how this snare drum sounds.

The shell is made of 6-ply Bubinga (0.88 density which is 37.50% denser than red oak (.64)) while having a 45° inner cut with a slight round over the outer cut bearing edge shaping the result to the sound you hear.

This realization helped me remember that you are never done learning about the drums you own!

There is always some new information to be found and created. You simply need to be willing to keep digging for it!!
