Playing, tunings and learning about drums can all be subjective.

Each person has their own way of explaining how they approach each aspect of this beautiful instrument.

What changes, is who we think is a reliable source to be able to learn these technical concepts from.

Most people narrow it down to the experts they feel have made a name for themselves in the technique that they desire to learn.

We seek these professionals out, in tern, to grow in our knowledge and understanding of the topic they are an expert at. In hopes in becoming an expert ourselves!!

Through this process, we become hyper focused with the topics and professionals we learn from. We become extremely zeroed in on that one thing and there is nothing wrong with that.

All I would say is this, because of the amount of information that is accessible, don’t limit yourself to just a couple of professionals.

Try to understand even the people you would not even normally learn from.

Each person has a unique perspective and with the proper mindset these different perspectives can become a brand new for your individual situation and playing style.

You just need to be willing to open up your mind and learn.
