Getting search and rescue crews to earthquake-ravaged Syria and Turkey has proven to be a monumental logistics challenge, but several countries are now routing teams through Istanbul.

The quakes have left thousands of people injured or homeless, and it is unknown how many survivors remain buried under destroyed buildings.
