Was going through my rough ideas in my phone that weren’t played to a click and found this one that works well as an ambient piece but wanted to provide a tempo and chords for context.
Yes the chords are boring but that’s just a vehicle to make the melody that much more interesting. As you’ll hear, there are some slight tweaks here and there compared to the previous melody as this one incorporates interval jumps and slightly different note choices.
By the way…
- This one uses notes from the G major scale
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7
- Playing this over a 1 (G) to 4 (C) to 5 (D) followed by a 6 (Am) to 5 (D) to 1 (G) progression works well. Or simply swap them all out for their power chord equivalents.
Also, if you don’t know this scale, the intervals to learn it are all up on the board????.
Understanding chords and scales is crucial to building melodies so let me know what YOU come up with from it..
