You seriously don't have to miss these awesome astronomical events of August 2025. First, six planets—Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus, Neptune, and Saturn—are already lined up in the sky, and Mercury is about to join. You can catch this rare seven-planet lineup before sunrise until August 4. On August 8, the Full Sturgeon Moon will shine bright, named by Indigenous tribes for the fish often caught during this time of year.

Then on the night of August 12 to 13, the Perseid meteor shower will be at its best. If the sky is dark and clear, you could see up to 100 shooting stars every hour. On August 23, there’s a special event called the Black Moon. It’s the third new moon in a season that has four, and it’s not something that happens often. And starting August 28, the Aurigid meteor shower begins, with more meteors expected as it peaks on September 1.
