On August 12, 2025, Venus and Jupiter will sit so close together you could cover them with your little finger held at arm’s length — look east just before sunrise and you’ll see two super-bright dots almost side by side.
The Perseids meteor shower peaks that night too, so expect some shooting stars, although a bright moon might hide the faint ones — still, it’s worth stepping outside and watching.
With binoculars you might spot more planets (up to six in a row), but even with your eyes alone this could be the best sky show of the year.
