The Mad Science of Experimental Character Building
Ever wondered what happens when you combine polymer clay and obsession over tiny details? This is the video! Join me for the full, meticulous process of designing and building my next stop motion star: a goofy, pear-shaped, single-eye monster.
In this first stage of experimental character building, I cover the detailed prep work needed for a smooth animation process, including:
The Goofiest Body: I left the pear-shaped body unbaked to maximize manipulation.
Mouth Inserts: Sculpting and baking the tiny rabbit teeth and lips.
Single-Eye Focus: Making the multiple eyelids (fully closed, open, wide-open) for dynamic expression.
The Hair and the Kicks: Sculpting the poop-looking white soft-serve hair and the single piece I enjoyed most: the oversized, ruby-red shoes with white strings—the character's only true fashion statement!
Tools Used: Polymer clay, ball stylus and modelling tools.
Don't forget to subscribe for the next video where we animate this guy!
***A quick note on quality: I just realized my camera settings were set to a lower resolution, which is why the visuals are softer on large screens. My sincere apologies for the unclear image quality in this video and previous ones! The good news is, I’ve fixed the settings! Moving forward, every new video will be uploaded in crisp, high-quality 4K. Thanks for sticking with the channel! All the old videos will have this note.
