???? About JOHANNES WEIDENMUELLER:
A first-call bassist since settling in NYC in the early 1990s, Johannes' credentials include the Hank Jones Trio, Ray Barretto's New World Spirit, Carl Allen-Vincent Herring Quintet, John Abercrombie Quartet, Joe Lovano Trio & Kenny Werner's longstanding Trio.

Other associations include Brad Mehldau, George Benson, John Scofield, Dewey Redman, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Toots Thielemans, Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Gary Bartz, Johnny Coles, Clifford Jordan, Joe Chambers.

Johannes' warm full sound, mastery of time, lyrical solos and flexibility & openness have made him one of the most sought-after bassists in a wide variety of musical settings.

Jazz & beyond, he has collaborated with the National Orchestra of Spain, the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra and choir, flamenco pianist Chano Dominguez, the Indian music ensemble of Gaurav Mazumdar, tabla virtuoso Ty Burhoe, New Orleans keyboard legend Dr. John & singer Madeleine Peyroux.

He was able to study with greats like Ron Carter, Dave Holland & Buster Williams.

While maintaining a busy performance schedule with 200 concerts a year, Johannes is also a committed educator.

He has been on the faculty of the New School in NYC since 1997 where he teaches bass, ensemble & ear training, as well as giving clinics & workshops at Banff Center for the Arts, NYU, New England Conservatory, Amsterdam Conservatory, etc.

Johannes is the recipient of numerous awards and grants including "Young European Jazz Artist of the Year" in 1993 and 1996, the Hennessy jazz prize 1996 as well as grants from Arts international and the New School faculty development grant.
