At the HKBU Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert, the orchestra performed the Danse Macabre by Saint-Saëns accompanied with a screening of the silent movie of the same name created in 1922 by director Dudley Murphy. To restore the silent film which was produced over a century ago, scientists at HKBU employed AI technologies to remove video noise, reduce flickering and increase the resolution of the film, as well as add realistic colours to the monochrome video frames.
