Tech Tip Tuesday: Zildjian Company 15" K Series Light VS. Zildjian Company A Series 14" New Beats
.
.
.
Back at you with another Hi-Hat Cymbal Comparison with two desirable pairs of hi-hat cymbals.
Surprisingly, these two hi-hats share some very similar tones and frequencies to them. They still have a good amount of differences as well.
As we start this journey, let’s get to know these two sets of hi-hats.
Zildjian 15” K Light Hi-hats are a part of the K line of cymbals. According to Zildjian, Based on requests from players for a lighter weight version of our heralded K HiHats, these K Light HiHats have a medium thin top paired with a medium bottom to give them a dark and slightly delicate feel with a light blend of overtones.”
Zildjian 14” A New Beat Hi-hats are a part of the A line of cymbals. According to Zildjian, “The Zildjian New Beat Hats are considered the most versatile HiHat cymbals in the world today. It is symmetrically machine hammered and lathed with a traditional wide groove. The result is an exuberant cymbal that bursts with a classic voice that is pure, bright, and expressive.”
They both do a great job with having a defined chick sound. The 15” K lights have a smoother chick and wash to them. On the contrary, the 14” A New Beats come off a little harsh, yet still a very present wash and defined stick definition when played.
Both do a great job of being present at the point of contact and then getting out of the way quickly. It’s difficult to say which one wins that part. I enjoy them both for the particular sound they provide.
What do you guys think? Which pair of hi-hats did you prefer and why? Leave your answer in the comment below.
Enjoy the demo. Have a wonderful day! ????????❤️????????
