2022 Tesla Model Y Official EPA Range & Rare New Agreement

► The official EPA range and efficiency numbers for the 2022 Tesla Model Y are in. EV company @Tesla Motors currently offers only two versions of the Model Y in the U.S. – the Tesla Model Y Long Range (AWD) and Tesla Model Y Performance. The Model Y Long Range is available with 19 and 20-inch wheels, while the Model Y Performance version comes only with 21-inch wheels.
The Tesla Model Y RWD is not available at all, but it has its EPA rating as well.
2022 Tesla Model Y RWD has an EPA range of 244 miles.
The same numbers suggest that it’s not a new version with an LFP battery.
The Model Y LR AWD has an EPA range of 330 miles (531 km). That’s in the case of the 19-inch wheel version. Finally, the Tesla Model Y Performance with 21-inch wheels has an EPA range of 303 miles (488 km).
► According to Tesla News, Tesla and others have now submitted all the documents required for environmental approval, which will allow the Berlin Gigafactory to start production.
The EV automaker’s goal is to start producing Model Y at Giga Berlin plant by the end of this year, but time is running out. Several Model Y were found on the recent drone flyover.
We cannot confirm that these Model Y vehicles were produced at the Berlin Gigafactory, but this is a possibility.
► 2021-2022 Tesla Model Y won the Best Safety Choice Award from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). Model Y received the highest score in each crash test, and the Model Y performance trim of the all-electric crossover also received a good rating for its headlights.
Model Y has now joined the list of top safety options for its sibling Tesla Model 3.
► It seems that Tesla Giga Texas production will begin early next year, which will make 2022 another exciting year for the company. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently confirmed that a grand opening party for the 2022 Model Y and Cybertruck production facilities will be held early next year. Tesla’s grand opening party for Giga Texas may be as fun as the Giga Shanghai and Giga Berlin celebrations.
► In a rare new offtake agreement with Syrah Resources Limited, Tesla obtained a new active anode material from graphite used in Tesla battery production.
The automaker said that it plans to use this silicon in some versions of its 4680 battery cells that will be produced in-house.
The company is currently ramping up production at its large-scale 10 Gigawatt-hour pilot plant in Fremont and hopes to deploy 4680 battery cell production capacity in even larger volumes 100 Gigawatt-hour at Gigafactory Berlin and Gigafactory Texas next year.
► Tesla stock price has soared by 7% today, and its market value has risen to more than $1 trillion.
Earlier this week, it lost the incredible gains it made following the announcement that Hertz would be buying 100,000 Model 3 vehicles, which pushed Tesla’s stock to over $1 trillion for the first time.
