Recycled art movement is currently inspiring many artists around the world with its critical message regarding excessive consumption and environmental pollution. Our YouTube channel Margreen was super lucky to visit one of the talented artists in this industry - Wilson Alexandre, a Brazilian artist from Rio de Janeiro, now living in Peniche, Portugal.
Wilson spent his whole life giving new life to scrap and creating wonderful trash art, transforming abandoned sites into vibrant spaces full of recycled art. We managed to visit both his working site that looked like a complete maze, full of weird things, sculptures, figures, characters, interesting and unusual materials, and also his house - the most colourful and coolest place in town. All this was made from garbage, waste and rubbish! This place look like exhibition, and it's a real kingdom of upcycling. Craftsman is full of creative ideas of handmade DIY arts and crafts, using his skills to make things out of plastic, metal, wood and other junk materials into beautiful artwork.
We've all heard that "one man's trash is another man's treasure", but that saying takes on a completely different meaning, when we view the world through the eyes of artists that create fine art literally from junk. Recycled art is a specific type of creative work made from discarded materials. This could be anything from old plastic toys, bottles, cans, tires or scraps of clothing and wood.
Be part of the modern art exhibition in Lisbon that raises awareness about the current situation with pollution in the world just like us always deserves a second chance and upcycling has led to the race of the artistic movement known as recycled art.
Trash is not the end material. Repurposing and turning waste into something new, something beautiful and useful - is an incredible way not only to tackle the pollution crisis, but also to raise awareness and to make a statement. Spending time cleaning around you, finding usefulness in otherwise discarded materials is cool and more people should be doing that saving the planet.
