A young lion emerging from the shelter of foliage in the Serengeti to look for play dates.
Artist Barbara McDonald paints with a plasma cutter to carve layered, textured and nuanced wall sculptures out of steel.
The piece is 3 feet wide and is fashioned to take advantage of a new technique I’m using to enhance the beauty of the steel carving. A clear, jewel-like coating of totally inert resin suspends the steel at this moment in its life cycle and protects it from the elements.
Carved steel sculptural piece mounted on 36”d cradled board. The background is acrylic paint. The entire piece is encased in resin.
