Vybz Kartel was awarded "Artist of the Decade" at the recent staging of the CMA, in which he beat out Beenie Man, Mavado, Bounty and Chronixx to gain the prestigious award. This is the first staging of the Caribbean Music Awards that was held in New York City and was attended by the Elites and top artists of the Caribbean diaspora to include people like Wyclef, Beres Hammond, Dancehall Queen Spice and others. This is the Grammy of the Caribbean uniting all Caribbean music and cultures under one roof to be recognized and celebrated.
