Join me in this exciting tutorial as we work on very useful exercise no 1 composed by Otakar Ševčík, the legendary Czech violin teacher! ???? Although originally designed for violinists, Ševčík's Changes of Position and Preparatory Scale Studies, Op.8 are now arranged from violin to cello! They can greatly enhance your cello technique, helping you master smooth shifts and build confidence. In this video, we focus on exercise number 1, designed to improve your finger placement and intonation across different keys.

FREE download the sheet music here https://mailchi.mp/798dc9e3fb66/changes-of-position-no1

I’ve included all the fingerings on screen to make your practice straightforward and enjoyable. Plus, there’s a free download link for the sheet music in the description! Start slow at quarter note = 72 and work your way up to any speed you like. You'll play this exercise in nine different keys, from four sharps to four flats, gaining a deeper understanding of finger spacing and extensions in both lower and higher positions.
