Vietnam has clinched the top spot at the Intervision song contest in Russia after Moscow resurrected the Soviet-era competition.
Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc claimed the $546,000 reward for his entry Phu Dong Thien Vuong, while Kyrgyzstan’s Nomad and Qatar’s Dana Al Meer came second and third respectively.
23 countries including China, India and Brazil participated in this year’s event.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the competition to be revived after Russia was barred from Eurovision due to the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian government has labelled the event as Russian propaganda. Australian-born artist Vassy withdrew from Intervision as the US representative in the last minute following pressure by Canberra.
