Congratulations on your decision to learn to play the guitar! Over the next year, I will be walking closely with you on your journey. In the past twenty years of teaching thousands of intermediate—to pro-level students, I have often found myself addressing the gaps and deficiencies that have prevented these players from reaching the next level in their development.
What if these things had been fixed early on? How much better could these players have been? After seeing these common issues creep up again and again, I began to formulate a pedagogy and detailed plan of benchmarks (or, proficiency skills) for beginners.
This course is the result of those efforts and tens of thousands of hours of teaching experience. It is designed to give beginners the best resource possible for eliminating bad habits and ensuring continued growth on the guitar in any genre they choose. Your success will depend on how closely you follow the outline, learn to develop discipline and patience in practice, and, above all, put in the hours. This course is not a time machine; it is a roadmap. Have fun, enjoy the journey, and remember playing the guitar
should always be fun – but it might take a while to enjoy practicing the guitar. They are, after all, two different things. A simple analogy could be running laps and drills in sports vs. the actual game. What becomes enjoyable about the laps and drills is knowing they enhance your performance, and that growth becomes predictable and addictive!
“...Jaw dropping, absolutely stellar guitar playing.” Blue Monday Monthly
