A Cantonese opera inspired by US President Donald Trump is staging its third run in Hong Kong from February 1-3, 2025. The show debuted in 2019 during Trump’s first term in office. It was subsequently updated for a second run in 2021, and creator Edward Li Kui-ming has updated it again for its latest run with the introduction of new characters and a pivotal new scene to keep up with the times. Trump on Show has been a hit, with its shows sold out, including all three nights of its latest run. What’s perhaps more surprising is the number of young people who have come to watch the production. Li said his modern-day show has introduced a new generation of audiences to performance art that dates back half a century.
