To continue with our Tutorial series, we recently filmed 6 Piano Masterclasses with @Stingray CMusic favourite, Tom Donald.
Founder of the London Contemporary School of Piano, Australian pianist and composer Tom starts the series by exploring chord progressions which move across time and genres.

Then improvising a little, first on Pachelbel’s Canon and then Trois Gymnopedies by Eric Satie, Tom shares his belief that aiming to understand music on your own terms rather than following a prescribed score, will broaden your horizons.

Later, Tom explores a technique that he calls chord stacking, a trick used by many film composers. With the penultimate masterclass on how a 12 bar blues is constructed and a look at jazz harmony to finish the series.
