Welcome to CRIMSON GUITARS HQ https://www.crimsonguitars.com/
In this Final video of the custom guitar series based around using molten pewter, Ben Crowe, master luthier at https:crimsonguitars.com is, as ever experimenting with processes and techniques in luthiery.
After spending several years binge watching Bam Gardner Restoration https://www.youtube.com/@BaumgartnerRestorationvideos, where paintings are brought back to life, under a master craftsman's hands, utilising a variety of centuries old glues.
Using one of these in this video proves to be an incredibly useful technique for holding delicate inlays in place while you mark where you need to recess.
Later in the process Ben, while using the brand new set of Crimson Micro Inlay Chisels https://www.crimsonguitars.com/collections/new-products/products/inlay-chisel-set, realises that the general technique of using chisels or rotary tools isn't the only way that you can remove a lot of material.
Ben created a near-perfect cavity, almost entirely through scraping and scraping alone. This is not only very precise, it is a far safer way to create an inlay cavity for a beginner guitar builder.
