Do U struggle to play ???? quietly?????????
The most common misconception of pianists is that it takes less pressure to play quieter. Completely false!
Each key is a lever that decides its course based on the speed it was pressed. If you press slowly even with a 100 pound weight, it will not generate enough momentum to send the hammer to the string with force. Therefore, you still get a quieter sound.
Even when people think they played quiet due to less pressure, it’s always because they ALSO went slower in their key stroke.
Being intentional about this in your practice can have a huge impact on your progress!
If you are dropping notes- you moved too slow. If you are playing too loud, you moved too quickly.
