French photographer Eric Lafforgue visited North Korea several times between 2008 and 2012. During his trips, he captured real moments of everyday life that the government usually hides from the world. His photos showed people struggling, soldiers resting, and scenes that did not fit the country’s official image. When North Korean officials found out, they demanded he remove the pictures. Lafforgue refused, and as a result, he was permanently banned from returning. His work continues to reveal a rare and honest look inside one of the most secretive nations on earth.
