The Kent Lady was commissioned as a memorable landmark in recognition of our talented past,present and future employees dating from our foundation in 1777.
The designer,sculpture and landscape artist is John Everiss from Chorley,Lancashire.John has won 3 gold medals for his show gardens at the RHS exhibitions and a further gold medal at the 2014 Chelsea Flower Show.
Our bespoke sculpture was handmade from 190 metres of 6mm bar,24 metres of flat bar and 3 metres of 39mm reinforcing bar forming the backbone. The 'hair' is 320 metres of assorted galvanised and stainless steel chain.
The hairbrush is hand carved from beechwood and 1700 individual stainless steel wires form the bristles.
Total weight 1/2 ton.
The Kent factory has resided in Apsley since 1900 and continues to produce the World's Finest Brushes since 1777.
