The Sidhe (Fairy Folk), were seen as very powerful in protecting the natural world, often sending a warning that those who harmed wild animals, especially the Hare, were cursed with ill luck! It is widely regarded that, as shapeshifters, the Sidhe often took the form of the Hare.
