Louis Wain is known as the artist who suffered from schizophrenia and gradually painted his descent into madness. From a very young age, his life was marked by tragedy. Over the years, depression slowly drove him to insanity, ultimately leading to his admission to a mental hospital.

Throughout his life, he painted cats, but his work was profoundly influenced by his illness. His cats became psychedelic, filled with vibrant colors, abstract shapes, and nearly incomprehensible forms.

Today, we will analyze his paintings, and I’ll tell you how schizophrenia impacted the career of this extraordinary artist.
