"That’s Not A Real Bossa Nova…" was a comment I got from @richmonddrumlessons ...but plenty of other commenters had similar sentiments. So I'm not trying to beat this dude up too much... but when it comes to #drumbeats and genres there is no CORRECT vs INCORRECT. You can argue traditional vs not traditional... but you have to be very careful stating something is "incorrect." In this case, the Bossa Nova I am demonstrating is not only common but very traditional.
...& a little advice from a person who has not just been playing drums... but "teaching" drums for 30 years. (I started my first teaching gig at 17... I am 47 now.) Don't put this groove or any groove in a "right vs wrong" box and don't assume you know everything simply because you weren't initially taught something. It's a bigger world and there's always room to learn.
