Spotify are proposing a big cut in royalty streams for artists.
Spotify initially published a statement on their website when asked if artists deserve to be paid more saying "yes, this is important to songwriters and is important to Spotify. The industry needs to continue evolving to ensure that the people who create the music we all love - artists and songwriters - can earn a living. The question is how best to achieve that goal".
Essentially, all of the platforms want artists to have more royalties as long as it comes out of someone else's pocket instead!
But don't panic.... The system for growth hasn't changed. We HOUSE our fans on socials and build on socials. We utilise Spotify for awareness and we then control our own systems for return on investment.

???? About Me:
Hey! I'm Damian Keyes and I've worked with musicians every day of my life for the past 20 years. When I was 18, I was signed to a major label and at 23 I founded the world's largest set of music colleges, currently valued at $300m.
As a bassist, I've played on stage for artists such as Eric Clapton, Alanis Morrisette and Billy Cobham. I also own a management company and live agency, undertaking over 10,000 gigs a year.
On a fun side note, I've also previously broken two Guinness World Records (whilst at BIMM), one for the highest number of guitar pedals used in a sound and one for the largest guitar rig ever built!
