I am Scott Thomas South, a disabled American Army veteran from Kansas City, KS, who embarked on a life-changing journey to Thailand in October 2015 for health reasons. Since then, he has immersed himself in the vibrant culture of Thailand, finding purpose and connection.
Living in Thailand:
Choosing Thailand for its tropical climate, Scott Thomas South has been a full-time resident since 2015, only returning to the States for occasional vacations. Married to a Thai lady, he navigates life with a Non-Official Family visa, making Thailand his home away from home.
Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL):
In 2016, Scott Thomas South was approached to teach ESL conversational classes for high school students. Initially, not seeking employment, he embraced the opportunity after six months of retirement. His unique approach, similar to a speech and drama class, focuses on students using English as a second language, fostering effective communication skills.
Expat Life in Ban Chang:
Relocating to Ban Chang in 2019, Scott Thomas South found a community of expats on the Eastern Seaboard. This move was inspired by a love for the area, where he continues to enjoy the benefits of expat life.
Community Engagement:
In 2021, Scott Thomas South joined the American Legion Post TH02 in Pattaya, and in 2023, he became a member of the VFW Post 12146 in Ban Chang. Actively participating in the community, he has created a YouTube playlist featuring American veteran-related videos, providing a platform to share experiences and insights.
Update: I am now living in Chanthaburi City Thailand as of Feb 1st 2025
YouTube Channel and Global Impact:
Fueling his passion for sharing the Thai experience, Scott Thomas South created a YouTube channel, documenting his life as an expat.
