The Wiz is a Broadway musical that celebrates Black culture and artistry version of the Musical “Wicked”. The original production opened in 1974 and won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical tells the story of Evillene, who’s the repulsive and violent one, and Glinda, who is the most wonderful and beautiful; along with her best friend, Addaperle. They dislike each other at first but soon form an unlikely bond. The musical follows them from their sisterhood friendship and explains how Evillene and Evermean became the Wicked Witches of the West and East, and how Glinda and Addadperle became the Good Witches of the North and South. The musical features pop, R&B, jazz, and soul music and dance.
