Peg Morar is a thief. She steals faces to create startling sculpture. It’s the most unusual art. Peg is a versatile artist who specializes in about a half-a-dozen styles from sculpting to weaving in her studio near Asheville, North Carolina. When she sees someone with an interesting face, she grabs them and creates a portrait in clay. I was smeared with Vaseline from my chin to my hairline and then glopped with plaster. A few minutes later she lifted off the cast and began creating an incredible portrait in clay. I admit the final wall sculpture was extraordinary, realistic and a little startling. That version of me is locked in time and will never age. But … I will. This story aired on WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News in 1978.
