Run for Justice

Bonjour !
Je m'appelle Youssef Mekacher et j'habite à Genève. Je suis une personne passionnée qui adore faire des nouveaux défis sportifs et de faire des choses qui sortent des sentiers battus. Je trouve que les événements sportifs sont une occasion excellente pour réunir une communauté généreuse et bienveillante dans une ambiance festive. Cette élan de générosité permet souvent de concilier le sport et la participation à de beaux projets humanitaires.

J'ai donc décidé de participer au semi-marathon de Balexert pour soutenir une cause qui me tient à coeur. Cette cause est portée par International Bridges to Justice, une ONG à Genève. Celle-ci s'occupe d'aider les personnes en détention qui ne peuvent pas s'offrir l'aide d'un avocat compétent pour les représenter. IBJ collabore donc avec des avocats, notamment en Afrique et Asie, pour aider ces personnes indigentes à faire valoir leur droit et accéder à une justice égalitaire.
C'est la première fois que je vais courir un 20km, ce qui est déjà un défi en soi, mais j'ai décidé d'aller encore plus loin. Pour représenter ces personnes détenues dans des conditions humaines, je vais courir les mains menottés tout au long de la course. Je vais tout mettre en oeuvre pour finir la course et arriver en un seul morceau ! Hello !
My name is Youssef Mekacher and I live in Geneva. I am a passionate person who loves to do new sport challenges and to do things out of the box. I find that sporting events are an excellent opportunity to bring together a generous and caring community in a festive atmosphere. This surge of generosity often makes it possible to reconcile sport with participation in beautiful humanitarian projects.

I therefore decided to participate in the Balexert half-marathon to support a cause that is close to my heart. This cause is supported by International Bridges to Justice, an NGO in Geneva. This NGO is dedicated to helping people in detention who cannot afford a competent lawyer to represent them. IBJ therefore works with lawyers, particularly in Africa and Asia, to help these indigent people assert their rights and gain access to equal justice.
This is the first time I will be running a 20km race, which is a challenge in itself, but I decided to go further. To represent these detainees in humane conditions, I will run handcuffed throughout the race. I will do everything I can to finish the race in one piece!
