Künstler: Andreas Loeschner-Gornau 2023
The Lamentation of Christ is a very common subject in Christian art from the High Middle Ages to the Baroque. After Jesus was crucified, his body was removed from the cross and his friends mourned over his body.

Andreas Loeschner-Gornau is a German artist. He is a sculptor, painter, draftsman, designer and music composer. In Leipzig, at the Academy for Graphics and Book Art, he studied painting.
Then metal sculpture in Halle at Burg Giebichensten and finished his studies with a diploma and a distinction.
At the same time he studied art at the Bauhaus in Dessau. Since completing his studies, he has worked as a freelance artist in Halle, Cebu City, the Philippines, Cologne and now in Weimar Germany.
From 2008 to 2012, Loeschner-Gornau was teaching fine arts and design as a visiting professor at the Universety of the Philippines.
He has received numerous international awards, prizes and grants for his artistic work.
His artworks have been purchased by museums and are held by many public and private collections.
In his work, the sculpture no longer just remains the spherical, the organism measures its measure against measure, as a tradition of sculpture from the cave to Rodin.
His sculptures listen to what is inward and therefore cannot be grasped at all from a purely visual point of view.
