Glue Baby Tiny Terra Series 3 featured this sub-series of pieces, which I called Full Spectrum. It’s a play on words (spectrum of color and medication) and they are all pill pieces.

Even though I already had the capsules in my studio, it was comments that my art didn’t look like it represented illness that sparked my desire to use them in my pieces. A few people went so far as to say that I was inventing meaning that wasn’t there. I thought, how beautiful, how appropriate, that art about illness would be told it was “making up symptoms” or “didn’t look sick” which so many of us combat these very ideas on our medical journey. It means, to me, that these pieces are doing what I have hoped.

Now that I have given them medication, made them “look sick,” the Tiny Terra resonate with you all - and me - even more. This whole process has been part of the creative journey of these pieces and has felt so joyous. Thank you all so much for the love on these pieces! I will be making time to respond to comments over the next few days so I promise I’m not ignoring you. Every comment means so much.
