Learn how to play 3 left hand harmonic piano patterns to make chords sound more lush & colorful.

Stop playing boring root-fifth-octave patterns in your left hand. This tutorial teaches three harmonic techniques that will make your chord progressions sound more colorful, refined, and professional. Perfect for pop, rock, Bollywood, and contemporary piano arrangements.
Three Techniques Covered:
1. Open 9th Voicings (Perfect Fifth + Perfect Fifth) Build open-ended voicings using two stacked perfect fifths to create 9th chord sounds. This voicing works with both major and minor in the right hand, adding color without committing to a specific chord quality.
Learn how to handle white note and black note transitions, and practice the F9 to Eb add9 exercise.
2. Floating Scale Tones with Root-Octave Anchor (3/4 Swing Pattern) Keep the root and octave consistent while floating the middle note through your scale of choice. Works perfectly with major, minor, Mixolydian, or any mode.
The pattern is 1-2-3, 1-2-3 with the root-octave anchoring the rhythm while index, middle, or ring finger explores scale tones. Creates an open sound that supports melody without overwhelming it.
3. Diatonic Thirds with Static Root Combine diatonic thirds from your scale with an anchor note (root) on top or bottom. Creates beautiful folk-inspired sounds and open major 7th voicings. Explore F major thirds combined with the root F to build colorful harmony that moves beyond standard triads.
Why These Patterns Matter: The biggest issue with beginner and intermediate players is investing too much time in melody while playing the same fifth chord pattern in the left hand. Piano is unique for its harmonic capabilities, so use a bottom-up approach.
These patterns work in the key of F but can be adapted to any key or mode.
Perfect for:
* Producers looking for interesting harmonic arrangements
* Accompanists who want to support vocals without playing closed triads
* Players tired of standard root-fifth-octave patterns
* Anyone wanting more harmonic color and independence
