The Director of Government Prosecutions Jane Francis Abodo has withdrawn charges against two Nigerian music artists and several others, following their appearance in court, on Monday.

The accused had been charged in Court for holding a music concert in Munyonyo in contravention of COVID-19 guidelines on public gatherings.

Indeed the accused were remanded to Kitalya and Kigo prisons until Wednesday.

Judicial spokesperson Solomon Muyita explains the circumstances behind the unusual decision to drop the charges.
