Duration 07:30

Pianist MICHAEL BAHMANN is equally at home on early piano, harpsichord, modern piano, and organ. Among his piano teachers were Karl Engel and Mack McCray, and he studied harpsichord with John Gibbons. He holds degrees from the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Hannover, San Francisco Conservatory, and New England Conservatory. A founding member of Musicians of the Old Post Road, he has appeared with them across North American and in Germany and recorded many albums on Meridian. His busy solo and chamber career has taken him to the festivals of Radio France, Königslutter, Aix-en-Musique, Simiane-la-Rotonde, and BEMF, as well as to the Chicago Symphony chamber series, Bay Chamber Concerts, Museum Concerts (Providence), and with Musica Æterna Bratislava. In 2005 he was invited to direct Handel's Orlando for the Festival d'Antibes Juan-les-Pins (FR). He has recorded numerous harpsichord concerti with Music of the Baroque (Chicago), of which he has long been a member. He is artistic director of Musica Maris, dedicated to performing 17th-19th-c. music on instruments of those periods, and music director and organist at United Congregational Church, Little Compton RI. As his other work permits, he voices pipe organs for Fratelli Ruffatti, Padova.
