Lindy Lee is an acclaimed Australian contemporary artist whose work explores themes of identity, spirituality, and our connection to nature. Drawing inspiration from her Chinese heritage and Zen Buddhism, Lee creates powerful artworks that fuse traditional techniques with cutting-edge technologies. Known for her intricate metal sculptures and paintings that incorporate light and shadow, her practice delves into the cyclical nature of life and the universe.

Ouroboros, Lindy Lee’s monumental public sculpture, is now on display at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. Inspired by the ancient symbol of a snake eating its tail, the work reflects the eternal cycle of life, death, and renewal. Visitors are invited to step inside the sculpture, experiencing a cosmic interplay of darkness and light through its perforated, glowing surface. By day, the mirrored exterior reflects the surrounding landscape, while at night, it radiates an otherworldly light.

Located at the gallery’s Forecourt, Ouroboros is open to the public 24/7, with the accompanying Lindy Lee collection available to view daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, now through June 1, 2025.
