Monaco or its official name Principality of Monaco (French: Principauté de Monaco or Monaco; Monaco: Munegu or Principatu de Munegu) is an independent city-state and principality located on the northwestern Mediterranean coast of Europe, founded in 1297.
The microstate, which is the smallest independent country in Europe after the Vatican, is surrounded by France in the north, west and east directions, while the southern and southeastern parts of the country border the Mediterranean.
Monaco is also located about 15 km from the Italian border.

The country is famous for its flamboyant casinos, ports and royalty in the Monte Carlo district.

Despite its small area, there is a stadium in the country. There is a heliport and a train station instead of the airport, and a small part of the French railway crossings. The motorway and the seaway have developed.

There is a small marina between the Fontvieille district and the peninsula where Monaco Ville is located, and a large marina between Monte Carlo and Monaco Ville.

The Côte d'Azur is the name given to a part of the French Mediterranean coast. It takes its name in French from a book by the poet Stéphen Liégeard published in 1887 under the name La Côte d'Azur.

It is the coastal area between Cassis and Menton.
