A group of western artists- of which I am one - are donating a work of art to be auctioned off by RAGO Auctions, in collaboration with the Art Alliance of Contemporary Glass, the glass art collector’s organization in the USA. The idea is to raise money, to help Ukraine’s Lviv University rebuild their glass studio with an electric furnace and kilns, to become less reliant on Russian energy, more sustainable, and to continue teaching through the war and beyond. The way I see it personally, is to help our artists colleagues in the Ukraine to keep making, and teaching, art in glass. The auction will be online, May 12. All proceeds will go to LVIV University glass hotshop! The sculpture features a bust with blue glass flowers, suggesting themes of growth, change, and beauty emerging from difficult circumstances. The title of the sculpture, "Transformation," suggests themes related to change, evolution, or metamorphosis - the transformative power of art or the potential for positive change in the face of adversity. The use of flowers as a motif is a tribute to the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people. 14”W x 16H” x 12”D -
