In the mid-1950s, Marisol began a period of dramatic experimentation with wood relief, plaster casting, stone and other materials. She said her terracotta anc bronze sculptures were influenced by Pre-Columbia sculpture as well as the striving, tumbling figures created by French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Her large figural sculptures, such as her wood carvings of cats i this gallery, show her interest in American folk art.#art #history
