The name of the French painter and sculptor Louis Cane, born in 1943, is inseparably linked to the group Supports / Surfaces, last notable and ephemeral French avant-garde.

Without ever denying the frame of mind of that time, he has been constantly drawing on Art history to produce, with intelligence and humor, abundant and multifaceted artworks . Yet Louis Cane never benefited from media coverage

His eclecticism, which some viewed as inconsistency, his demand of liberty, often viewed
as a kind of dissidence, have probably kept Louis Cane away from public at large.

I have proposed Louis Cane to look back at his sixty years’ work as an artist.
This documentary unveils, from the sixties to nowadays, the making of a brilliant,
historically inspired artistic production.

It is in his Parisian studio, surrounded by his paintings and sculptures, that I meet Louis Cane.
