Lenard Foust Teaching Jazz Styles to U of Michigan Dance and Musical Theatre Department


Lenard Foust is a performing artist based in NYC and a part-time doctoral student in Dance Education at Columbia University. His career spans performances with recording artists, cruise lines, a ballet company, and various musical theater productions. Foust holds an MFA in Dance Performance from the University of Michigan and a BS in Dance Education from CCSU. As a Fulbright Scholar, he taught at Capital Normal University, Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Beijing Dance Academy in China. He was an Assistant Professor at Alabama State University and also an instructor of dance at the University of Michigan, teaching jazz and hip hop styles to Musical Theatre, Dance, Acting, and non-major students. His research focuses on the underrepresentation of dance forms in academia, examining how Hip Hop and Jazz dance impact education and employability for BFA graduates. He is currently represented by LDC Artist Representation, pursuing Broadway opportunities while teaching part-time. IG: @Ellejaymoves.
