Anatoly Karpov vs. Garry Kasparov (1984), World Championship, Game 9.

Karpov is the king of "prophylaxis" (preventing the opponent's ideas before they happen). In this game, he slowly restricted every single one of Kasparov’s pieces.
Kasparov was the young, aggressive attacker, and Karpov showed him that pure logic and precision can beat aggression. It took 70 moves of absolute torture.
