Indian fables come to life on All India Radio
As part of the special initiatives by Prasar Bharati to keep its listeners engaged during the Corona Virus lockdown, the External Services Division of All India Radio (AIR) is beaming a new storytelling series based on enchanting and enduring Indian fables like the Panchatantra and Jataka tales, specially curated for children and the young at heart from June 1, 2020.
The series is titled JUNGLE JUNGLE PHIR BAAT CHALI, evocative of the much-loved title song from a Doordarshan series of the 90s with lyrics by the eminent poet Gulzar.
The series, featuring stories in both Hindi and English, showcases specially transcreated-for-radio versions of the ancient fables for a new generation by in-house talent of AIR as well as established names in children's literature, theatre and broadcasting-cum-communication from outside.
The series is currently being broadcast on four channels – AIR Live News 24x7, FM Gold, and Indraprasth at 10.20 am and 4.10 pm daily and at 9.05 pm on the FM Rainbow network. All these channels can be accessed on Prasar Bharati’s mobile app NewsOnAir
