The “Singing Piano” concert featuring Jay Parte and his father, Tushar Parte, was a mesmerizing tribute to the golden era of Indian cinema. Held on February 1, 2025, at the Shri Udyanganesh Janmotsav Program in the Temple premises, Shivaji Park. the event showcased Jay’s exceptional talent on the Grand Piano, accompanied by Tushar Parte (his father and son of Jaikumar Parte) on guitar, Abhay Oak on flute, Abhay Ingale, Vijay Murthy on bass guitar and Shantanu Kher on tabla. The show was conceived by Rajendra Vaidya, Trustee of the Temple. The Show was enthusiastically competed by Mrunali who became an audience favourite.

Jay Parte, a distinguished concert pianist from Mumbai, hails from a lineage rich in musical heritage. He is the grandson of the late Jaikumar Parte, a prolific arranger and composer in the Indian film music industry during the 60s and 70s. Jay’s vision is to create an unparalleled instrumental concert experience, seamlessly blending popular Indian and Western musical styles.

The concert featured exquisite piano renditions of timeless masterpieces from Indian cinema, including classics like “Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas,” “Chandan Sa Badan,” and “Yeh Mera Dil Pyaar Ka Deewana.” Jay’s mission is to demonstrate that the piano, typically associated with Western music, can also harmoniously showcase Bollywood music.

Jay Parte’s “Singing Piano” concert was more than just a musical evening—it was a soul-stirring journey through Bollywood’s golden melodies, brought to life by his extraordinary finesse on the piano. His ability to capture the very essence of legendary compositions while blending classical techniques with modern improvisations showcased not just his technical brilliance but also his deep emotional connection with music. Tushar Parte’s presence added a nostalgic charm, creating a beautiful intergenerational dialogue through melodies that have stood the test of time. The concert was a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of Indian film music, proving that the piano, often seen as a Western instrument, can carry the spirit of Bollywood with grace and grandeur. The audience was left spellbound, applauding not just the mastery but the sheer passion that Jay poured into every note, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

In a recent appearance on the singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’, Jay’s performance of ‘Nazar Ke Samne’ particularly moved legendary singer Kumar Sanu, who praised his accuracy and emotion, drawing a comparison to his own iconic performance with Anuradha Paudwal.
