Röckel (1834-1907) was a british pianist, violinist and composer. She studied under Clara Schumann, Jacob Blumenthal, Ernst Pauer and others. Her debut as soloist on the piano was in 1854 at the age of 20. She played concerts organized by Pauer, for example the review of a piano duet where she played with Pauer: „The pianoforte duet of Onslow, the best of the two by that composer, was among the most attractive performances of the evening. It was admirable played by Miss Jane Jackson and Herr Pauer, and received with much favour“. (her father's name was Samuel Jackson.) Since 1862 she gave many concerts in her hometown Clifton, where she was recognized for her great Hummel PC interpretations. She married in 1864. In 1885 she dedicated a concert exclusively for compositions of women. She used the pseudonym Jules de Sivrai to write over 200 compositions since 1862. Most of her compositions are little piano pieces and fantasies which featured famous and well known at that time melodies, which were of course very popular. The pianist Arabella Goddard engaged a lot for her work.
