There really isn't a right or wrong answer to this question - it depends on the individual artist.

'Not using white' is NOT the right technique if it doesn't give you the result you want, and likewise, 'USING white' is also not the right answer if it doesn't give you the result you want.

It's definitely a good idea to understand how to paint without white paint - it'll make you a stronger painter ???? but I do believe there's a place for all pigments - it just depends on personal preference which pigments and techniques are right for the individual.

Holding a, perhaps to some extend, outdated set of rules so high that you limit the chance to innovate os definitely not the path I want to follow.

Art is about expressing yourself and telling your story - do it with whichever tools and materials that seem right to you ????

????????️ White watercolor can easily mess up a painting if you don't know how to use it - but that doesn't mean that's the only possible outcome.

For this painting I'm using mix of techniques.
For the pizza, as an example, I'm painting it 'traditionally' with transparent colors to give it a slight glow.
For the PlayStation controllers, which are very solid, non-luminous objects, I'm mixing in white to add weight.
