Dogs and Birds Book 1 is based on Sol-fa. Dog-Bird is So-Mi, commonly used when starting to sing Sol-fa. The pieces in the first 33 pages use only notes from the pentatonic scale. Children that have finished book 1 have learnt to sing and sight-sing well, because they always sing the animal names as they play. From Book 2 onwards we encourage children to count as they sing the melody. Meanwhile they continue training their ears using this Simply Sol-fa Book, which was written especially for pianists. Here Havi shows us an introductory exercise.
